Retrain your brain
March 28, 2010"Often, the main barrier to thinking big is being held prisoner by your daily routine. Ahead, four easy ways to fuel your imagination."
TAKE A BATH:
Science don't lie: Soaking in a hot tub actually relaxes your body and your brain, leaving your mind unburdened and clear to wander to all types of new ideas you may never have considered in a more structured situation.
BE A PLAYER:
Spike a volleyball or pick up a tennis racquet. Get into any sport or game that challenges your mind in ways your job doesn't. Win or lose, the sort of strategizing and straight-up go-for-the-kill mentality necessary in sports will make you step out of your usual daily thought patterns and give you new perspective.

Become wrapped up in an activity that totally engages you, like reorganizing your closet, reading fashion mags, or baking cookies. Often, our most lucid ideas come when they are not being aggressively sought after.
TELL A WHITE LIE:
The next time you're in the company of strangers, make up a new life for yourself - where you live, what you do for a living. Since you are free to embellish, you'll unconsciously omit all the things in your life that are holding you back (the crappy boyfriend, the low paying job, your shoe box apartment) and paint a picture of the life you really want.
